Theo is a data scientist with broad healthcare experience across technology startups, public health agencies, and academic medical centers. He holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. in Public Health from the University of California-Berkeley.
As a public servant, Theo managed the State of Wisconsin's arboviral surveillance system where he contributed to the discovery of Borrelia mayonii. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as an epidemiologist for San Diego County where he led outbreak surveillance and response among schools. He also advises UC San Diego Health on clinical outcomes research.
In industry, Theo has led research portfolios spanning machine learning, clinical outcomes, operations, and health economics at several healthcare technology companies. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals such as JAMA Network Open. His work has contributed to securing 8-figure contracts including the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative—a program that provides free behavioral health services to children in California. Currently, Theo is developing AI applications for surgical teams at Apella Technology.
Outside of work, Theo enjoys surfing, scuba diving, gardening, and exploring new foods.
